Akkaravadisal / Sweet Pongal






Ingredients :
Rice : 1/2 cup
Milk : 2 cups(depends on consistency)
green gram dal: 1/4 cup
Jaggery: 100gms
Cardamom powder : 1/4 tspoon
Dry grapes: as required
Cashew: as required
Ghee: as required

Preparation Method:
Cook the rice and green gram dal with 2 cups of milk in a pressure cooker.while this is being done Powder the jaggery, add 1/2 cup of water to the jaggery , heat & stir continuously until it turns into a syrup.Once the syrup is ready always filter it using a tea strainer(always keep one strainer just for this purpose) to remove the unwanted particles.

take a pan add 2 Tbl spoons of ghee roast the cashew & dry grapes and keep it aside in a small container..now add the well cooked rice to the remaining ghee in the pan , you can add a little more ghee if required...add the jaggery syrup and mix it well with the rice for 2-3 minutes under low heat...Finally add cardamom,cashews & dry grapes and mix it well for 1 minute.

Serve it hot, add a 1/2 tspoon ghee on the top ( optional)
