Ingredients:
chow-chow / chayote - 2 small
moong dal - 1/4 cup
green chillies - 2 or 3
coconut grated - 1 Tblspoon
jeera/cumin seeds - 1/2 tspoon
salt
mustard seeds- 1/4 tspoon
urad dal - 1/2 tspoon
oil - 1 tspoon
curry leaves - 4
Preparation Method:
Step1: peel the skin and cut the chow- chow / chayote into small cubes , pressure cook it with the moong dal by adding 2 cups of water.
Step2: grind the coconut,green chillies and cumin seeds into a nice thick paste by adding little water .
Step3: Once the vegetable is cooked transfer it into a small pan and add the ground paste , salt and cook for about 5 mins.
Step4: take a tspoon of oil in a small pan heat it and add mustard seeds,urad dal and curry leave one after the other.Once the mustard seeds splutter and urad dal turn's reddish in colour remove from heat and add to the kootu.
