sambar podi (powder)

Okie i got a request from a frnd and so posting the method to prepare sambar podi the way amma does it and have to mention tat i like to do my sambar only with the podi she has given me.I have stocked it in my freezer.

Ingredients:

dhania/coriander seeds - 250 gms
red chillies - 500 gms
toor dal - 1 cup
channa dal - 1cup
black pepper- 50 gms
turmeric finger - 50 gms
raw rice - 1/4 cup
fenugreek seeds - 1/4 cup

Preparation method:

Sun dry the above mentioned ingredients for a couple of days and then grind it in a mixie or if in India can get it ground at a grinding mill shops, amma usually gets it ground in the shop.

If you cannot sun dry the ingredients , you can roast it in a kadai without oil...until the raw smell fades and the dal's turns light brown.
