Ingredients:
Lime - 1
Tomato - 1
Toor Dal - 1/2 cup
Green chilly - 1(optional)
curry leaves - 5
mustard seeds - 1/4 tspoon
asafoetida - 1/2tspoon
oil - 1/2 tspoon
salt (to taste)
sugar - 1/4 tspoon
turmeric - 1/4 tspoon
fresh coriander - finely chopped
Preparation Method:
Step1: pressure cook the toor dal with 1 1/2 cups of water by adding the turmeric to it.
Step2: take a medium sized bowl and mash the tomato in it , now add the curry leaves, green chilly (slit in between),asafoetida and add 2 cups of water stir and mix well.Now place this bowl on medium heat and let it boil for about 7-8 mins.
Step 3: now add the cooked toor dal , salt and sugar stir and mix them well and let it boil for another 4-5 mins.
Step 4 :now remove from heat and squeeze the lime juice into the rasam and mix well.
Step5: take 1/2 tspoon of oil in a small pan , add the mustard seeds on spluttering add it to the rasam,and garnish with few finely chopped fresh coriander.
Goes well with Rice :-), adding green chilly in step2 is optional.
