Ingredients:
Lady's finger/okra - 4
buttermilk - 2 cups
turmeric - 1/2tspoon
coriander seeds - 1tspoon
urad dal - 1tspoon
coconut grated - 2 tspoons
ginger grated - 1 tspoon
curry leaves - 4-5 nos
red chillies - 2 nos
green chilly - 2 nos
cumin seed - 1/2 tspoon
mustard seed - 1/2tspoon
salt - 1 tspoon
asafoetida - a pinch
oil
Preparation method:
Step1: cut the lady's finger into small pieces and fry it in a pan with 1tspoon of oil for about 5-6mins and keep it aside.
Step2: fry the coriander seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal in a pan Without oil until they turn light brown, let it cool for a couple of mins and then add coconut , ginger,green chillies and grind them together into a paste by adding lilttle water.
Step3: Add 1/2 tspoon of turmeric to 2 cups of buttermilk and boil it for 5 mins in medium heat...now add the already fried lady's finger / okra, asafoetida and the ground paste and stir it properly and let it further boil for 4-5 mins and then turn off the heat.
Step4: seasoning heat 1 tspoon of coconut oil in a pan , add mustard seeds ,red chillies and curry leaves, once the mustard seeds splutters add this to the buttermilk gravy prepared.
mor (buttermilk) kuzhambu(gravy) is a very tasty south Indian dish goes well with rice :-)
