Appam








Ingredients:

Jaggery/vellam - 1/2 cup(powdered)
Rice flour - 1/4 cup
Maida / all purpose flour - 1 cup
Cardamom - 4-5(finely powdered)
coconut (optional)- 1 tspoon (finely chopped/grated)
water - 1/2 cup

Preparation method:

Step1: Powder 1/2 cup of jaggery and add 1/2cup of water and keep it aside for 10 mins.

Step2: Mix the jaggery (preferably
by hand) in the water.Filter the jaggery mixed water with a stainer into another container so that impurities are removed.

Step3: Now add the maida,rice flour, powdered cardomom , coconut and mix them well into a thick batter.

Step4 : Heat oil in a deep fry pan and now using a scoop spoon pour the batter mixture consisting of one spoon each into the oil upto four at a time , fry them until it turns brown on both sides.
