Ingredients:
Rice - 1 cup
Urad Dal - 2 Tblspoons
Toor Dal - 2 Tblspoons
Channa Dal -2 Tblspoons
Dried Red chillies - 6
Green Chillies - 2
Asafoetida - 1/2 tspoon
Salt- 1 tspoon
coconut grated - 1Tblspoon (optional)
Method of Preparation:
Step1 : Soak Rice and the dal's along with the dried chillies for about 2 hrs and then drain the water and grind them into thick batter adding green chillies, salt and asafoetida.For making adai the batter should be thick so do not add water while grinding.
Step 2: Once the batter is ready , heat the dosa pan/tawa or crepe pan and pour about 1Tblspoon of batter and spread it in the pan and add 1/2 tspoon of oil around the corners.cook for 2-3 mins and then turn it to the other side and cook for another 2-3 mins.
Here we go Adai is ready.
Tips for making adai more tastier :
1) Add grated coconut to the batter , it is always better to take a small quantity of batter for adding the coconut separately in case you wanna store the batter for a couple of days.
2)Just like in uthappam you can try different toppings on adai too like finely chopped onions or cabbage.I have used cabbage in the above pic.
3)Adai tastes gud with Avial or any chutney.
